Head into one of the newest restaurants to open at the Irvine Spectrum Center! Bay Area favorite Curry Up Now, an innovative Indian fast casual concept opened it’s first Southern California location in the OC.
Enjoy everything from individual entrees like a bowl or burrito, to street snacks and Thali platters to share. I liked that the portions were smaller, not tiny but manageable. If you’re like me, you like to get a taste of everything; so the platters were great to try various curries as well as the snacks and Indian street food. The burrito is a tasty and fun fusion take on a tikka masala. Overall, there’s a harmonious blend between traditional Indian dishes and modern cuisine. The restaurant is inviting and bright, and a seamless translation of their food truck. If you’re an Indian food enthusiast or looking for the authentic flavors, Curry Up Now may become a go-to for you; and is also the perfect place as an introductory step to trying Indian food (there are so many dishes to try that are easy to share with others). See the entire menu here.
Curry Up Now started as a food truck in 2009 by husband and wife duo, Akash and Rana Kapoor. The couple wanted to share the food and flavors of their homeland, India, with American consumers, and decided to adapt their favorite dishes like tikka masala, samosas, and naan into formats that were popular in the U.S. What resulted was a menu packed with creative, innovative spins on Indian cuisine like Deconstructed Samosas, Aloo Gobi Tacos, Naughty Naan flatbread pizza, Quesadillix, and much more. The concept currently has three food trucks and eight restaurants across the country, with the newest outpost in Irvine!
